I love games. Every type of game. Console, Board and Card .. love them all! Recently my boyfriend and I have been playing lots of games and I thought that today I would share with you a few of my favourites in case any of you are looking for a new game to play. Please, if you have any suggestions for games, let me know as I love finding new games 🙂
The first game that I love to play is of course monopoly! Who doesn’t love monopoly. I know it can be a long game but still I love it. My favourite type of monopoly is the Star Wars one where each double means something new. For example if you roll two one’s you get to move anywhere on the board, if you get two sixes you can challenge someone for one of their properties … which is cool but is annoying if you end up losing a property. When I went to visit Hana, we played the Game of Thrones version which is really cool (even though I do not watch GOT). I also adore the classic version with Mayfair and all the London places. I don’t know what it is about the game that draws me to it but all I know is that I have loved this game for a long time! If you haven’t played it then I would definitely recommend playing it!
Classic Monopoly ~ £14.49
Star Wars Monopoly ~ £44.99 (this is the one we have but there are other Star Wars versions which are cheaper)
Another one of my favourite games which I have purchased recently is the card version of monopoly. This is such a good game and I am sure Hana will agree as we basically played it all the time at hers when we met up haha! It is such a good game as it is shorter than a normal game of monopoly and is just really fun to play. The aim of the game is to collect 3 sets of different coloured properties before anyone else. You have different cards such as money cards, action cards and property cards and you take it in turn to play up to 3 cards whilst trying to collect sets of properties. It is such a good game and is really addictive, once you play one game you just want to play another haha! So I would definitely recommend for those who like monopoly but want a shorter version of it or even if you just like card games then I would definitely recommend this.
Monopoly Deal ~ £8.05
Shuffle Monopoly Deal London ~ £6.95
Phase 10 is another one of my favourites. Now this can vary in length as the idea of the game is that there are 10 phases (rounds if you like) and how progress to the next round is if you collect what is needed in the first round. For example if the round was ‘7 of the same colour’ then you would have to try and collect 7 cards of the same colour. It is a bit like rummy in some respect as you get 10 cards and you pick up one and discard one. The round will end when one person achieves what is needed. So if only one person succeeds in getting what is needed then they progress to the next round whilst the next person stays on the same round. Okay I know that description isn’t very clear but the game is hard to explain over words haha! I would definitely recommend this game though if you want a card game for a long journey or just to play as a family one evening.
Phase 10 ~ £5.90
Another favourite is Dobble, a great game which requires speed and fabulous observation skills. There are several variations of this game but the games all rely with matching symbols on cards and saying it out loud before your opponent to either get rid of all your cards or gain the most cards. This is a really good game if you are looking for something snappy and small to carry around. It comes in a circular tin which could easily fit into a handbag or a bag. I played this game once on the train and it was a perfect game to play to pass the time.
Dobble ~ £10.99
One of the most recent games that my boyfriend and I have been playing is Bloons Tower Defence 5 which is available online or on the app store or google store I think. It sounds like a weird game but is actually really addictive and fun to play. The aim of the game is to pop all the balloons before they reach the end of the track and you have a certain amount of lives before the game ends. In order to pop the balloons you place down towers which will have different abilities and shoot the balloons. Each tower can be upgraded but requires money in order to upgrade, for every balloon you shoot you get money which is what you use to pay for the towers and their upgrades. This game is really good and definitely is an excellent game of passing time. Their are different tracks as well and for each track their is an Easy, Medium, hard and Impoppable round where with each increase in difficulty … there is an increase in price (everything costs more) and a reduction in lives. It sounds weird I know but it is a great game and is free to play online or costs £2.99 on the app store.
Finally, the last game that I really love playing is Cluedo. I love the mystery side to it and trying to find out who committed the murder. For those of you who don’t know what Cluedo is, it is a murder mystery game where there is a murder involving one person, one weapon and one room and for the duration of the game people make up guesses trying to work out who did it. This game is really fun especially if you like working out mysteries however, the worst bit about this game is that you can’t really play it as a two as it doesn’t really work. That’s what I find slightly annoying as it means my boyfriend and I can’t play it on our game nights :(. Oh well! It is a great game though haha! I have only played the original version and then Cluedo: Discover the secrets! I would like to play some versions that are based on films and tv series, like the big bang theory version – that would be cool! I would definitely recommend this game for someone who is having a games evening with friends or wants a good game to play with friends – this is the game 🙂
Cluedo: Discover the Secrets ~ £24.99
