My Summer Morning Routine

Recently, I shared with you all my skin care routine, which you can check out here if you missed it, during which I gave a really brief description as to my morning skin care routine. Yet, since things change so much through the seasons and that by only doing skin care I naturally omitted other habits and traditions, I thought I would share with you my full morning routine. Im trying really hard at the moment, despite being off university and done with academic work, to wake up nice and early. Ugh, I really don’t see the point in sleeping the day away, so I’ve been working hard to get back into the habit of benign early bird. So at the moment I rise at about 7am. The first thing I do is I take a massive sip of water. If there is one thing I am rubbish at, its drinking water. So that another thing Im working on at the moment. Note to self, if I don’t drink more water on holiday in a hot country there may be some problems… You know like dehydration, headaches, death. Okay maybe not death, I’m not that stupid, but it really is something I need to work on. Anyway, moving on, I next get out of bed and stretch out a bit. I read somewhere or got told sometime that stretching is a really good idea in the morning, so I’ve started gently stretching out a little after I wake up. Now depending on how I feel, I then head straight for a shower. Im not one to wonder around too much in pyjamas unless Im have a super lazy day.

I shower most mornings, unless im feeling lazy or if I had a shower the night before – I sometimes do this if I go riding or had a particular rigorous gym session. Well Yoga. You got me, how often do I really go to the gym? Well that would actually be never, although I do classes at the gym. That counts right? Anyway, Im off topic… Again. Before I was anything else, I wash my face. Now I feel like your face can be the messiest thing to wash, so I do it in the beginning because Im worried about getting it in my hair – gods know why. At the moment I’m using some Tea Tree face wash in the morning, so Im using the The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Face Wash. I love this was so much because its really fantastic at combatting spots and blemishes around exam time. I love this wash, its brilliant for a deeper cleanse in the morning. After my face is washed I do my hair.

Right, so I wash my hair in the shower every 3 days or so, or whenever I cant deal with the grossness anymore. I know some people wash it everyday, but its so much better for your hair to wash it less often. To be honest, Ive never washed it daily, so my stays clean for a good few days, the only time I’ve ever had an issue is with my fringe, but since thats almost grown out now, its nothing to worry about. I usually wash my hair with Aussie, which is my absolute favourite hair wash. Im not ridiculously picky with shampoo or conditioner, if it works for me Ill take it. I also love Herbal Essences and Ultimate Blends, but Im currently using the OGX Renewing Argan Oil of Morocco Shampoo and Conditioner because thats whats in my house at the moment (I think their actually supposed to be my spot mums but oh well). I occasionally switch the conditioner for the 3 Minute Deep Treatment Conditioner, however I only really do this after I’ve used a lot of heat on my hair recently. If its been straightened a lot.

I next wash my skin and I have been absolutely loving Imperial Leather Foamburst Unicorn Marshmallow Shower Gel. I got this as a one off wondering through town one day because it was half price and boy am I glad i did. Ive wanted to try one of Imperial Leathers Foambursts forever, and Im so glad Ive finally got one. Now the thing with this little tub is a little goes a long way. All you need is the tiniest pump and it goes from this pale pink to clouds of foam in seconds. It smells so good too, like sugar and marshmellows, but its not to over powering either. Right anyway, so I use this to wash my body and Im done.

Out the shower, I then get dressed and sort out the hair. I have two options for that; straighten or mouse it. If Im running low on time, I just brush it through with my tangle teaser to get out the knots, separate it into two and run some mouse through it and let it air dry. I like to leave my hair as natural as possible, because it can actually be really pretty if I do it right. On a bad day it can look like a birds nest. Well it usually looks like a birds nest most the time, but well thats beside the point. When I have a bit longer or I want to tie it up, the straighteners come out. It can take anywhere between 10 to 30 minutes for me to do my hair, it depends on how concentrated I am really. Oh and how much time I have.

So once the hairs done, I crack out the skin care, then I’m done and I head down for breakfast. Skin care wise, Ive always kept mornings simple, as I like to be up and at-em really quickly. I first start with the Botanics Organic Rosewater Toning Spritz. Im rubbish with Toner, but this one makes life really easy and takes seconds to use, but if you want to hear more on that you can actually read my review of it from last summer here. I then moisturise with Botanics All Bright Hydrating Day Cream, which has SPF 15 (amazing!), again another product that I love.

Then Im done. That is literally it with me. I like to keep my routine really simple and easy. Let me know in the comments below the most important thing for you to do in the morning, to be ready for the day ahead. For me its to wash my face. Thank you so much for reading!
